I love Toms, no wait, I LOVE Toms. I have 5 pairs. They fit my size 10, high instep, wide feet. So I live in them. The fact they come from a socially aware company is a huge bonus. So when my BFF told me they were going to make ballet flats I kind of flipped out. Oh and just look at how cute they are! I can't wait to order a pair or maybe 5! We love these diapers! We have been using them sense Indy was about a month old, I think they are as close to disposables as you can get. I really wish the hospitals would send new parents home with one of these in edition to Pampers or Huggies. They come in a huge range of colors and prints and sell for about $18 each.

Rockin Green Diaper Detergent

We love this stuff too. It does a great job cleaning our diapers in our front load washer. It comes in a bunch of yummy scents all of which have great names, like Smashing Watermelons, Rage Against the Raspberry, and Bare Naked Babies. You can choose between classic rock, hard rock and soft rock depending on what kind of water you have.

Angel Baby Bottom Balm

So with cloth diapers regular diaper cream can cause repelling issues and leaks. This product is CD safe but honest even if we didn't CD I would still use it because it's so awesome. It smells like orange and vanilla, YUM! It isn't that nasty white goo like most diaper creams, its clear and thin. I have yet to get anything from this company I don't LOVE.

Okay, yeah I have fallen of the edge of the bloggy world again. Dude this motherhood shit is hard and when you have other things going on as well it doesn't help. I have had some massive migraines this past week and really all I wanted to do is pull the blankets over my head and hide.

Something else has been going on and I have pretty much kept it off of here until now. So you may remember last year my dad fell off his bicycle and suffered a traumatic brain injure. Well he was getting better and in September against all of our concern he decided to ride his motorcycle. He had a fall while getting off the bike and broke his neck. This all happened right before my birthday. He was in the hospital and then rehab until last week when he came home. He had a C4-C5 complete break with pretty much means he has no control or feeling from his collarbone down. This type of injure has a lot of secondary complications. It's been a mess.

My dad and I weren't on great terms before this accident and in fact I told him this exact thing was my biggest fear. Well he did it anyways and then continued to blame everyone around him for it. I have a lot of mixed feelings about everything right now. I am doing my best to not let this affect my everyday routine with Indy but it seems to have made my PPD even worse. It's a shitty situation for everyone.

Well other than all that crap....

Sunday we went to a baby shower for David, he is the guy I hired to replace me when I had Indy. My mom, Indy and I went and had a good time. For the record I strongly dislike baby shower games. I pretty much love shopping for baby stuff and when that baby is a girl I go a little crazy. Lets just say I hope they like pink.

a simple dinner that will make you & your man happy

Chuck Steak Marinade

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup (or less) soy sauce (I use low sodium)
1/4 Olive Oil
minced garlic 2-3 cloves
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 black pepper

Mix everything together in a Tupperware container and marinade chuck steak for at least 2 hours. Chuck is a less expensive cut of meat but because of the vinegar it becomes rather tender. I could seriously eat this 3 times a week its so good. When your ready to cook spay a little EVOO on the pan and cook the steaks. SO YUMMY.

It's 52 degrees and raining here in beautiful "sunny" southern California. It's days like this, and I guess the sunny ones too, that make me lust after big beautiful porches. I have a dream of one day building a home up near Solvang in the country with a big wrap around porch. The back of course would be screened in and made into a sleeping porch. Sadly we live in a track house in the Los Angeles suburbs and porches are just not "in" here and I don't have the $$$ to add one on. So I just have to look at pictures and imagine I am enjoying a huge cup of coffee while sitting in a big over stuffed couch on my back porch looking at the rain pouring down.

Indy does Disney

So last Saturday I got to do one of the things I have dreamed of sense the idea of having a child took over my life. I took Indiana to Disneyland. ...insert tear here... Oh yes the tears, I shed a lot of them. I really thought that first walk down Main Street would do it but I held out until we were sitting watching the Tiki Birds singing and he was just in AWE. He loved just about everything we did that day, Haunted Mansion, Dumbo, Tiki Birds, and the Little Mermaid.

In the parking structure, Papa was excited too.

Not to sure about the tram.

Cute sidestory- thats my bestie Cass, a week before we went her boyfriend Daryl sent me a text saying he wanted to get her an annual pass for her birthday and the REAL gift, one for himself too. So he bought the passes online and drove down to Disneyland by himself. Cassie drove down with us and as we got off the elevator he surprised her. It was so sweet and we were so happy to have both Indys aunt and uncle with him on his first DL trip. Daryl had to work that night and left early but I think Cassie was a very happy girl.

On Dumbo, he didn't let out a single smile until we got off then he was all smiled and laughs.

Halloween 2011, Indys first

What he wore!

So we had Indianas first official holiday, and it was one of my favorites! I knew I wanted to make Indys costume because nothing in the stores seemed to be right. I made the wings out of felt and quilting squares I cut into feathers. I added down to the chest of the onesie with furniture trim (that was the WORST) and rickrack to the neck line. He sported a pair of H&M trousers and a cute flight cap from Baby Gap. Seriously I think it turned out great! I added the wings with buttons to the onesie so when he gets bigger and wants to play dress up we can add then to another shirt.

What we did!

Saturday we hit up the pumpkin patch. It was 90+ in Simi where we live so we opted to take the 40 minute drive to Camarillo to enjoy the 20 degree drop in temperature. TOTALLY WORTH IT! It was my first time at this patch and it was really cute. They had pumpkins picked and under tents and also tons of pumpkins still up on the hill that you could pick yourself. I thought it would be a great idea to sit him up against some pumpkins and it was until he toppled forward and got a face full of dirt. mommy fail. He was fine, tough guy, mom and dad were ready for a drink.

The night

This is our front porch I decorated, yes I'm very proud. I made the garland lights (thanks pintrest), the doormat and decorated the basket.

Because sometimes you run a day late.

I knew I wanted to do these photos, I bought the hat, I found the perfect sized pumpkin BUT when I went to take the pictures yesterday... MELT DOWN. I was alone until 7 and sometimes you just need an assistant while taking baby pictures to help out, so I tried again today with help from my mom and BAM cute naked baby in a pumpkin awesomeness. I pretty much look at it like this.... I only have a small period of time in which I can take these totally adorable pictures before he is crawling/walking/running away from me or telling me I'm embarrassing him. So I'm going to take advantage of that time.

Indy Loves

Day4- My favorite movie.

This is easy. I am a huge John Hughes fan, pretty much anything he made I love. But The Breakfast Club is a true classic. Even if this movie was made 26 years ago the characters and story are timeless. Everyone can think back to when they were in school and think of someone that fits into each of these stereotypes. After every time I watch it I always find myself thinking what if we dropped those stereotype, who would you really find inside?

This is hard because I feel like I have so many, so I looked at the play count on my iTunes. So for right now this is my favorite song, it could be different tomorrow. I love everything Florence + The Machine do but for some reason this song just moves me. Her voice is AMAZING! The quality of the video doesn't do it justice. Lets get this challenge started!
Day 1- 15 facts about me. I will try to make them 15 things you may not know.

When I was little I chose yellow as my favorite color because no one else chose it. I really loved purple but I felt bad for yellow, now I love yellow more than any other color.
I never really liked chocolate before I had Indy, now I'm addicted to Starbucks double chocolate brownies. Not a good thing to be addicted too.
I listen to podcasts.... a lot, and most of them are Disney based.
I did my first jury duty when I was still in high school and I got extra credit for history and government. I turned 18 the beginning of my senior year.
In my family (mom, dad, sister) I am the only one NOT named after an other family member.
I want to have one or two more babies and adopt. It's a dream of mine and I really hope we get to do it.
When I'm home alone I listen to house music.... shhhh don't tell anyone.
I own 5 cameras, all of which I use on a regular basis.
I was a Girl Scout for 10 years and loved it.
I think I could totally be an interior designer, I love furniture and decorating.
I almost always wear sunglasses during the day even if the sun isn't out. My baby blue eyeballs are very light sensitive.
My favorite beer is Rouge Hazelnut Brown.... yummm
I hate the sound pantyhose make when legs rub together.... So I only wear leggings or thick tights.
I want to tear out the lawn in my back yard and just make a huge garden with raised planters. I want to grow all my own produce. One day...
My egg baby in middle school home ec, her name was Josephina. I still have her little cover made out of a sock.

So after a long 9 months of pregnancy and not being able to get tattooed (running a tattoo blog and watching Sean get his sleeve done didn't help) last Wednesday I got my tattoo for Indy done. I went to Christina Hock who also did my Haunted Mansion tattoo and my back piece. I had a general idea of what I wanted but she busted it out of the park. I couldn't be happier!

So... I started this blog to document our family and later expanded it to cover some of our favorite things. I always knew it would grow and change as our family grew and changed. Once I became pregnant with Indy I said this wouldn't turn into that typical "mommy blog", one problem.... I am a mommy...one that blogs. Of course the content of the blog changed after Indy was born, I spend 23 hours and 45 minutes a day with him (that 15 other minuets are the time each day I hide in the shower). I spend all day taking care of him, washing baby clothes and diapers, making bottles, taking pictures of him on my iPhone, and scouting out the newest, cutest baby stuff online. BUT.... I'm still me, the same girl as before, just now I'm covered in spit-up and rarely change out of my yoga pants. Okay so the point of this really is just to say to my non-mommy blogger friends, don't give up on me. I'm going to try to post more about myself and my adventures. I will try to get more of my super simple dinner recipes up here. I will try to have this revolve less around my new profession. AND.... to my new mommy blogger friends I will try to share my new found wisdom of motherhood.

September 18th was my cough... 28th birthday. We have so much going on right now I didn't want to make a huge deal about it so we just decided to head up to Ventura and go to Joes Crab Shack for dinner. My most favorite people in the world were with me and we had a grand time.

Last week the world lost this amazing young woman. She made the world a brighter place the time she was here. Her name is Lacey and we meet online years ago through a Disney community. Then thanks to Myspace then Facebook and Twitter we because friends. I had the chance to meet her at D23 last month for the fist time face to face. I knew she wasn't feeling well, I knew she was spending a lot of time in the hospital but I didn't think for a second this would happen. She had just celebrated the 4th birthday of her liver and she needed a new one. Sadly it didn't happen in time. She had 3 Disney tattoos and was one of the first people to share her art on my Disney tattoo blog. I would like to ask all of you to take a few minutes to go and make sure you are registered as an organ donor. Please talk to your friends and family also and make sure they are registered. It's what Lacey would have wanted, can you all please honor her and do this for me.

3 months... holy cow!

My boy is 3 months old. I really can't even believe it. He is such a happy little guy.

It's safe to say I'm a smitten mama.

Indy Loves

Bath time, he loves kicking and splashing in the baby tub.
Trees, he could look at trees all day. His first love was sunflowers but they are pretty much done for the summer.
Walks to the park.
When his Gemma puppy stops his swing with her fat head and licks his toes.
When he gets to hang out with his cousins.
Watching football, baseball, or MMA with his papa.

Indy Isn't A Fan Of

Clothes, he would much rather be naked.

Not to much going on in our neck of the woods. The past few days have been crazy hot, I'm talking 110+ temps. So the boy and I have been staying home and enjoying the AC.

He seems to enjoy being naked, haha.

Wednesday was my moms birthday , my dad offered to take us all to the food truck meet up at Taft High School. It was amazing!!! I don't know if the whole food truck thing is sweeping the country but her in LA they are the THING! They had some of the best food I have had in awhile. I had a Philly style cold cut sandwich, Hawaiian breakfast sliders and red velvet pancakes. Nom Nom Nom, I think my favorite thing is the portions are small so you can have multiple things from different trucks. My mom, sister and dad all had the lobster roll, which looked good but lobster isn't my thing. Sadly I forgot my camera so these are iPhone shots.

Bad picture but it was a warm summer night with yummy food.

After 11 weeks of feeding every 2 hours at night, Wednesday night Indiana slept all night (well from midnight to almost 7). Last week we changed him to soy formula and I really think that was the issue. Poor boy had nasty gas that would keep him awake. Sense then he seems to really feel a lot better and is taking longer yet fewer naps.

Oh happy ~~day~~ night!

So over all were doing great, trying to survive these last few weeks of insane weather. I took these just a few minutes ago. My little Indiana is starting to look less newborn and more infant. At his well baby visit last week he weighted in at 13lbs 1oz (25th percent) and 24 1/4 " long (75th percent). Long and skinny.

Cabin Fever

Saturday Indy, my BFF Cassie and I headed down to the D23 Expo! It's like a smaller all Disney version of ComicCon. It was all of our first time going and Indys first Disney trip. It also happened to be the longest the baby and I have been out of the house sense he was born. All things considering I think it went really really well. Auntie Cassie (she is also Indys God Mother) was such a great help. I should have taken more photos but trying to snap pictures and take care of the munchkin it was hard.

Someone turned 2 months yesterday. Geez where does this time go? Little Indiana is all smiles these days. He is really starting to have a personality and show interest in things and wanting to do things. We try to have a little family time every night when Sean gets home, we turn on music or Yo Gabba Gabba and dance. Indy loves it. He is also starting to sleep longer thought the night. He falls asleep around midnight and wakes up around 6 for some breakfast than falls right back asleep until 9 or so. We are a 100% cloth diaper family right now and honestly I love it. I am really glad we decided to invest in the BumGenius system. The only thing that never really worked out like I wanted was breastfeeding. Sadly my milk never really came in. I blame the few days he spent in the NICU. I'm still feeding and pumping but he mostly gets formula.

Last Friday Sean, Indy and I went to sushi with Indys GodMother and my BFF and "Uncle" Daryl.

This was the first time he has EVER held a baby.

Oh and the shoes are too big on him which is why his feet look HUGE.

Story time... I love this books that were illistrated by Mary Blair.

He is absolutely amazing, we have been home for about a week now after spending a week in the hospital. My labor was so far from what I wanted and expected but in the end I got the only thing that I really wanted, a healthy little boy. I will write more about all that later. Until then just enjoy a few pictures of my handsome little guy. Seriously, he is a good looking newborn, isn't he?

Warning- this is the hardest thing I have ever had to write because it's the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. When your pregnant all you ever want is a healthy baby, to have a perfect little baby that you can hold in your arms after he or she is born. I have been dreaming of that moment my whole life.

I had a regular OB appt just like I do every 2 weeks on Tuesday. As some of you know when I was 20 I was diagnosed with an congenital heart defect that cause my heart rate to drop, I was implanted with a pacemaker and sense then everything has been fine. Last spring I got the okay from my cardiologist and the neonatologist to start trying to get pregnant. Everyone agreed that I was fine and my condition was NOT hereditary. Once we got the positive I started seeing the neonatologist every 2 weeks. I had 2 anatomy scans and 2 fetal echos, all of which showed a perfectly formed heart. The baby has been perfect up until Tuesday, when the doctor (not my regular doc, she was totally booked this week) tried to pick up the heart rate on the doppler it didn't sound right. So I was sent over to have the fetal monitor put on, the nurse tried for about 10 minutes but kept picking up a rhythm that wasn't mine but was in the 70s, so she called the doctor that was on call in L&D. This doctor also couldn't seem to find a regular rhythm and pulled out the ultrasound. Baby was moving around and making breathing movements which she noted was a very good sign. She then called my regular doctor who moved me to her office where she has the higher end ultrasound machine. After what felt like forever she had me sit up and broke the news. Indy has an arrhythmia, his heart jumps from an irregular beat in the 120s down to a slow beat in the 70s. She did say that we were really lucky that they got great views of his heart early on and it looks great, this seems to only be an electrical problem (something I know a lot about). She said he has no idea there is anything wrong, he is growing great, moving great and is doing everything he should be doing at 30 weeks. She is referring me to a pediatric cardiologist at a larger Kaiser hospital in LA as well as having me come in and see her weekly for ultrasounds and twice a week for fetal monitoring. She has no idea why this started and that we were lucky that I have been so closely monitored up until this point so we know right around when it started. She kept telling me this had nothing to do with me, it's not related to my condition or anything that has happened during the pregnancy. She said he will likely be in the NICU for monitoring after his birth and they would treat him with a pacemaker.

The whole thing is just surreal, I was by myself and I don't know if I will ever be able to go to the doctor alone again. I called my husband once I was done and after making sure he wasn't driving and wasn't alone, I told him. It was the worst phone call of my life. I have told my mom and sister but were going to wait to tell the rest of our family and friends after we see the cardiologist and have some better answers.

Today I talked with the head of fetal-medicine at Los Angeles Medical Center on the phone for about an hour. He gave me a bit more information than my doctor was able to give. He says as long as Indys heart rate stays above 55 we can go to full term, if it drops down to 55 they would deliver immediately and admit him to the NICU for a pacemaker. He also said that if it does stay in the 70s up until birth there is a chance it could correct its self or that he could live without a pacemaker but with the arrhythmia.

He didn't have any openings until the end of the month so Monday we are going to see the doctor under him and the pediatric cardiologist. We are trying to stay positive, that's not easy. All I do is worry about him, that he will be okay. I worry about him being so little and having to stay at the hospital without me. I worry that he will have to deal with this the rest of his life. I worry that he wont be able to be a normal kid and do normal kid things. I worry this is my fault....

28 weeks, an Indy update and 3D pictures

Wow, I haven't done this in a long time. :) As of yesterday I am 28 weeks. Indiana is doing great, we have had our in depth ultrasound and 2 fetal echos (basically its a really long painful ultrasound that checks out all of baby), my neonatologist says he looks great. I have been having a hard time eating and keeping down food this whole pregnancy and that is still going on. My weight loss was a mild concern to my doctor but he seems to be growing right on schedule. The biggest issue has really been my migraines, they are so intense that I have ended up in the ER because of them 3 times now. I just keep trying to tell myself we have about 83 days left until our EDD and I can do this. Last Saturday we did a 3D ultrasound, it was so amazing. He looked like a real baby, he moved like a real baby and he had personality like a real baby! I know he's real but its still just crazy for me to think that I have a little person in there. I will share those pictures at the end of this post.

Things that I have learned in the past 6 months

Michelle Duggar is freakin mental! Honest I think after maybe 4 kids adding more can't get that much harder but damn I don't know if I even want to have another because this pregnancy has kicked my ass! We always said we wanted 2, now Sean is questioning that because he can see how had this is on me. I just hope in a year and a half or so I totally forget about all the nasty.
A husband will never say "NO" when talking about buying a new TV. For the past 2 years or so we have had a really great 40" Sony projection TV, Sean bought it off a coworker who upgraded to plasma. It was great, but with our new giant master bedroom I knew we needed something that wasn't projection (you need a really dark room to get a great picture). I started checking out QVC online daily and found an amazing 47" LED LG. I should point out something- Sean hates spending money, I on the other hand could shop till I drop daily! So guess what, he didn't say no... I love our new TV and could watch Disney movies on it all day long, Sean loves it too.
Some people will never change, not even after getting a huge hit on the head. I really did think that after my fathers brain injure he would be more thankful for the people that care the most about him. Not so much. I don't know if I will ever really be able to explain this on here, it's complex to say the least. I have done a lot of reading on TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) and the one thing that comes across the strongest is that its the family sometimes that gets hurt the most.
Mexican Coke will always be better than American Coke, I love me some real sugar, forget that corn shit. Have a Costco card? then go get some, it's in the glass bottles and its fantastic! I should point out I have almost completely cut caffeine out of my life, I still drink Iced Tea and one bottle of Coke a week.

Okay thats all for now, I'm sure I have learned more but Sunday night is movie night in the Miller house. Were gunna watch Tron on our new big ass TV.

This week is my 20th week of pregnancy. Holy WOW. I can't believe I'm at the 1/2 way point, its just nuts. For the most part things have been going pretty smoothly, I am getting great prenatal care and really like my doctor. I have only just started to show but am loving it. I have had 2 very detailed ultrasounds with my doctor (who is a neonatologist) and she is happy with the results. It looks like his heart is perfect and she cant find anything that looks off. I'm still going in every 2 weeks and its starting to feel like a regular routine.

Sean has been working the 7pm to 7am shift at work and that is really the hardest part. He gets off at 7am and I leave the house around 7:20 so we don't see each other most mornings. He gets up around 5pm when I get home and starts getting ready to go. It's hard, I would love to talk to him but during the day he is just out. Oh well this is the last week, cant wait until we are both working normal 40 hour weeks.

On and the last bit, were going to San Diego this weekend to see the Aquabats. I can't wait! We have a suite at the Hard Rock which is right down the street from the show. I can't wait to get out of town and enjoy all San Diego has to offer.... that being a huge bath tub, room service and hand made to order fresh tortillas in Old Town.

Yeah, even before we got pregnant I started buying any super cute little baby thing I would see on sale, or needed to have. So you can only imagine after I got the positive test back that I started shopping even more, then once we found out it was a boy I have kind of gone CRAZY. So I'm going to share some of the goodies I have found and been given.

This is the same crib we ordered. It's similar to the one I had when I was a baby and I loved the simple lines and how classic it was.

Yes I missed a few weeks, don't worry all is ~~good~~ PERFECT. I have just been busy and really unmotivated (at least I'm honest about it, right?). I go to the high risk OB every 2 weeks and she is really happy with everything. We are no officially in the second trimester and I have started to feel a little better as far as the fatigue and morning sickness go. The REAL BIG NEWS is that in 6 days we have a 3D ultrasound appointment and should (fingers crossed) be able to find out the sex. WOOHOO so excited. After we find out I will order our Stroller, the beautiful UppaBaby Vista, I'm just waiting to find out the sex. I have always really loved the red one which would be great for boy or girl, but for 2011 they have this really pretty midnight blue color, which if its a boy I think I will get. Anyways on to the fun stuff.

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth..

10 things I got from 2010

I am working on a 2010 photo review but blogger sucks and wont up load my photos. So I thought I would give you the 10 things I learned in 2010. It's been a crazy year to say the least, I think I came out of 2010 with more wisdom than any other year.

Life can change in a split second. I have always heard this but it never really applied to anything in my life, then October 21st happened. My dads life was changed in a single moment.
It's okay to ask for help. I have always been the girl that takes care of everything. I learned with first my moms cancer and then my dads TBI that I can't. Asking for help is hard but it was the best thing I ever did. I admitted my life was too much and started to get help.
No matter what age you are sometimes you just need your parents. I find myself thinking "I just want my Papa" all the time.
When you're freaking out, call a friend. Even if that means she finds out about you're newly discovered pregnancy before your husband.
My husband is my sanity. I swear if I didn't have him they would have locked me up in the loony bin a long time ago.
Don't go to a hockey game 9 weeks pregnant, you will feel like shit, you cant eat hotdogs, and good chance no matter how good the game is you will fall asleep.
It's okay to want it all, but be aware that in real life you may have to settle with 80%.
Gallbladders are lame and who really needs one.
n my eyes there is no harder carer than being a nurse. First with the nurses in the chemo unit who day in and day out cared for the sickest of people, then with the nurses that cared for my dad. They are angels on loan from heaven.
This maybe the most important thing, something I never really understood either until now. No mater how little control over life you have, never forget the big picture.

I'm done Christmas shopping. I am really happy about everything I got for all my loved ones. I really just focused on the kids. I wanted to find special, educational, yet fun gifts for them. I think I really scored with some of the things I found. Sean also got some great stuff that I will post about after the holidays. :)

I'm done grocery shopping. I went to Von's, Trader Joe's, and Albertsons.... all today. BOO I hate the store this time of year. Anyways I got everything I need and am really excited to make dinner tomorrow for my family and a few friends.

I'm done wrapping. Nothing better than a beautiful tree with lots of special gifts for your loved ones. I really try not to worry about the spending and buying aspect of Christmas. I love to give gifts that are special and I know will make the person happy. I don't just give things to give them. I don't know maybe I'm strange.

Week 11 and 4 days! I keep putting of this post because I have somethings that I want to share but honestly am really scared about putting out for the general public. First thing first, maybe I should say that I had a neonatologist appointment yesterday and the baby looks great. Now for the nitty gritty stuff. If you read this blog you know that my dad was in a bicycle accident about 9 weeks ago. Sense then I have experienced every emotion in the book. I am married, in love, going to be a mother, on the flip side I feel like I have lost my dad. So I have had the highest of highs and lowest of lows. From time to time I was having mild panic attacks and a lot of anxiety. Last week my Aunt came into town to take care of issues with my dads trust (she is the trustee and thus can make all the decisions about my fathers life, finances and business). To me it sounded like she had no hope of him getting better, she wants to sell all the things that are special to my dad (his motorcycles and bikes). All of this led to me having the worst panic attack of my life, I couldn't control it. Shortly after I started having a lot of cramping which made me even more upset and unable to calm down. About 1/2 an hour after that I called my mom and asked if she could take me to the ER. While I was in the ER OB came down to do an ultrasound and the baby was perfect. Thank God. Then I had a nice long talk with the chief of psychiatry. We decided that at this point in my pregnancy the benefits of taking a medication out weighed the risks. I was given a RX for a low dose of Ativan. In addition I am going to be under the care of the PPD specialist in the psychiatry department. I meet with her next week. The idea of taking meds really does terrify me but the thought of ending up back in the hospital is even worse. My high risk OB is fine with me taking the meds and is happy that I have started to ask for help. I have always been the one to take care of everyone. Now I feel like the only people I need to take care of are the baby and myself. Sean has been so wonderful and protective. I don't expect to be "happy" for a long time, but I just cant keep living in this haze of fear and anxiety. ANYWAYS now on to the fun stuff.

Baby's now the size of a lime! Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

Week 10

Week 10! Double digits and 1/4 of the way done cooking this little munchabunch. I have felt pretty much the same this week as I did last week. Thursday I went to see our new puppy and then later that night we went to a LA Kings game. I swear I was amazed I didn't fall asleep. I was so tired from driving to Norco and home (80 miles each way) and then going right to the game. I'm glad we went, Sean had a great time and we had great FREE seats thanks to the owner of the ice rink. The game had me thinking about how next year I want our holiday family pictures taken at the rink, after all it is where Sean and I meet and I think it would be cute. At Christmas time they decorate one side of the ice with real snowmen, Christmas trees, and those old style stadium lights. It's so pretty, when we first started dating after our first Christmas dinner together we went to the ice rink, just the 2 of us (because the rink was closed) and skated. It was amazing.

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will start working too.)

week 9

Week 9! Lets see whats going on this week, still have morning sickness like its going out of style, am still wicked tired all day long, and still have the skin of a 13 year old. I know its all worth it but honestly I am waiting for my 2nd trimester to start so I can put at least one or two of these symptoms away. This week I spilled the beans on Facebook. I wanted to wait a little longer but some family members knew and I really wanted it to be on my terms. It was really great to share some good news after the past 7 weeks or so. The one person I still have yet to tell, and it's killing me, is my dad. He isn't doing to good and I don't want it to be a negative experience.

Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

Weight gain?: down 8lbs, thanks to morning sickness
Stretch marks?: on my right boob, great
Maternity clothes?: A bought a larger bra but that's really it at this point.
Sleep?: Better, we just got a King sized bed and its helping a lot
Best moment this week?: Telling everyone!
Food cravings?: Salad, we went to Olive Garden yesterday and I ate 2 large bowls of salad and took my entree home
Gender?: still thinking its a girl
Movement?: no
Belly button?: still there
What I miss?: sushi.... more specifically Tuna SP from Jimmys

Labor signs?: nope

What I'm looking forward to?: Seeing my midwife next week
Milestone?: We have a fetus!

In a few weeks Sean, Bailey and I will welcome a little puppy to our ever growing family. Then a few months after that we will be adding one more little bundle of joy. I know what your thinking "Jenn has totally lost her marbles", and you may be right. I found a French Bulldog breeder that has a puppy that is just right for us. I can't wait to grow our family little by little. I grew up with some of the most amazing animals and its really important to me that our child has that same love for 4 legged fuzzy beasts.

Yeah this is a music post and I will guess 99% of you have never heard of this band. BUT you should know about them, because they are fucking AWESOME! The Aquabats are one of those standout Southern California bands. They came up in the same era as No Doubt, Reel Big Fish and Sublime. Even if you think I am totally nuts for loving a band that rocks out super hero costumes I bet you do know something slightly related to this band. Christian Jacobs the lead singer also created a little toddler phenomenon called..... YO GABA GABA! Yeah that's pretty freaking cool. The Aquabats also happen to be Seans favorite band, never ask him about them or you will hear about that one time he saw them live at Knotts and Travis Barker was the drummer.

The Mini Miller is now part of the Madness

I started a separate blog for all things baby but now that everyone knows I am going to combine the two of them. It's just to much trying to keep up with two blogs and now that The Mini Miller is really part of the Madness this just makes sense. I will do my best to keep The Miller Madness the same blog it was before with just a few hints of baby related stuff added. If you hate it this way let me know and maybe I will change it back.
